Question by Mike: What are the best strategies for playing blackjack and slots?
I’m going to Reno in a few days, and would like to give blackjack and slots a try.

I know a little about it, but am hardly an expert. What are some general tips about how I can immerse myself in the games without looking like a total amateur (and not losing my airfare home)?

They say at Blackjack, alway assume the card they have facing down is a ten. So if they have a 3 showing and you have 15, I would stay in the hopes of the dealer busting out. If they have a 7 showing and you have 15, I would hit.

there is a previous question like this, but the answer to the “resolved question” says mohegan sun and foxwoods are closest, but this is wrong, as you must be 21 to play blackjack there.

I am trying to find an online blackjack game that has multiple players.either actual players or computer players.If there are any that in which the deck actually has a set limit and the dealer shuffles that would be much better.

I am playing online against other players for points (no money involved).
I don’t see any of my opponents cards.
Ace is always worth one. 21 always wins or ties.
22 beats 23, 23 beats 24 and so on.

I agree that it is like no “blackjack” game I have played before. Still, there must be a best strategy.

I am totally confused. Perhaps there is a new Blackjack game?????? I don’t know any blackjack game where 22 beats 23 beats 24 and so on.

Strange that you don’t see any of your opponents’ cards. try getting into a game where you can see everybody’s cards.

21 in a blackjack game always beats everything. I’ve lost enough money against the house to know this for real!!!!

Basic strategy is simply a chart that tells you what do do in every instance. You have to commit it to memory. Of course it helps if you understand why each move is the best. A good book would be one that has different charts depending on slight variations in house rules. The book should also explain the house or player edge (odds of winning over the long term) if the basic stradegy is followed exactly. Again this varies slightly depending on house rules. Your odds are better at some tables than at others. You need to be able to find casinos and which tables offer the best chance of winning

A good blackjack book should aslo discuss how to manage you betting and manage your bankroll.

As for card counting, it is very difficult to do. The casinos deployed so many stradiges to foil card counters that it is almost impossible. It is nothing like what you see in the movies. Many people will tell you differently, so you are welcome to give it a try.

If you play blackjack online, isn’t it easy to count cards by writing them down on a piece of paper? If so then all the online casinos must be playing rigged versions to avoid this? What is the answer?

most blackjack tables are around 5.00 minimums for the cheap ones – those might have limits of either 500 or 1k tops

average these days is either 10 or 15 minimum and they usually have either 2k or 3k minimum

25 dollar tables have limits usually of 3k or 5k per hand

100 dollar tables can be as low as 2k if its a themed casino or something with very good rules for the player – some 100 tables can have limits up to 10 to 15k per hand

it all depends on the casino, and whether or not they cater to the high rollers, sounds stupid but some casinos/properties do not want to take the risk with big limits because its very volatile and when the volatility swings in the wrong direction for them its very EXPENSIVE

You’ve learned the hard way. Don’t gamble money you don’t have to lose in the first place. I’ve lost like that before, but it wasn’t money I necessarily needed to live on… but I’ve won a couple thousand as well. You win some and you lose some. You just gotta learn to walk away when you have reached your limit.

There are many good sites. You can view some great online casinos with Spanish 21 at http://www.spanish-21.com

I often play at Spin Palace when I want to play that game, but there are many great places to choose from on that site. They also have detailed rules and information about how the game is played. It is a very exciting variation on the game of blackjack and I like it!
